Elaine Paige

Release Date: 1981

Label: WEA

Catalog #: K58385 (LP) / 2292-46204-2 (CD)

My very first album released on the WEA label, simply entitled ‘Elaine Paige’, (it took us ages to think of that title!) and my first album after ‘Evita’. The album was produced by Andrew Powell and Tim Rice was the executive producer. We recorded the album at Air Studios in London.

Tim collaborated with several writers namely Paul McCartney (“Hot As Sun”), Barry Gibb (“Secrets”) and Vangelis (“The Second Time” – theme from ‘Bilitis’ which in November 1987 reached number 69 in the UK charts – that famous position!)

The cover shot was taken at Woburn Abbey. It’s the longest dress, on the longest chez lounge and the furthest away shot of me ever!

‘Elaine Paige’ attained a Silver certification by the BPI (The British Recorded Music Industry) for sales in the UK – this award marks sales of 60,000 units of an individual album title to UK retailers.
